Tecknuovo’s top tech community events – May 2020

Whilst this might not be how we imagined bringing in summer, there’s still plenty of informative May events happening! As you can see from the Google Calendar below, there’s a whole variety of May events to choose from. Plus with virtual events, you can both stay updated on the tech and communities you love, and stay inside! More information about the Tecknuovo team’s favourite May events are within the article. Tecknuovo community update

On Thursday 23rd April, we hosted the first ever virtual event. We were joined by Laura Tacho, VP of Engineering at Aula, Docker Captain and international keynoter for an Ask Me Anything evening. Laura answered our questions on scaling, monitoring and maintenance at Aula as well as offering advice to managers to help with team’s morale during COVID-19. You can read all her answers on our community Slack!

Wednesday 6th

Real-time event joins with slow changing streams – Register here

The next virtual event with a very interesting presentation from Learning about’s empirical dissertation around how a real-time high-frequency data stream can be best joined for enrichment purposes with a slow changing stream that maintains state. This walkthrough covers the use of different Flink APIs, such as the DataStream and the Table APIs, using techniques such as Temporal Tables, Broadcasts and Heartbeats and includes pros and cons of the different options to help the audience make the best choice.

Online event to learn about the Kubernetes and cloud native from three great speakers, and meet our community. We’ll be joined by PJ Haggerty from Humio, Kevin Chen from Kong, and an expert from SUSE! You won’t want to miss this one.

Thursday 7th

Arjuna – A Modern Web UI Test Automation Framework – Online Meetup – Register here

Arjuna is a Python based test automation framework developed by Rahul Verma. It is an open source, Apache Licensed software. Rahul has implemented smaller variants of features in Arjuna across frameworks and organisations, or given advice around it. However, Arjuna being a generic library has the most complete implementation of his ideas, away from project specific contexts and constraints. We’re joined by none other than Rahul Verma who’ll take us step by step through the specific challenges and problems. Who knows what you’ll learn!

Raj currently working as a Senior software engineer at Tesco and has used PHP for 15+ years, successfully working in companies in the UK & India.

For our May 2020 event, we are teaming up with Women in Tech North and Tech Returners to facilitate an online panel discussion around the theme of Parenthood and Your Career.
